About April.
April is a registered general psychologist with a specialty in coping with physical health conditions. She grew up in West Auckland and became interested in the clinical practice of psychology while studying as a post-graduate student. April studied at the University of Auckland. She holds a Bachelor of Science, BSc Honours, Master of Health Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology.

April has an evidence-based approach to therapy with an emphasis on the integration of psychological science through education, to help clients better understand the 'science' of themselves.

She has a warm, collaborative therapeutic style and will work to build a strong therapeutic alliance with you to support your personal growth.

Education and Experience
University of Auckland
April completed a BSc with a major in Psychology and Physiology, graduating in 2016. She went on to attain a BSc Honors with First Class Honours in Psychology, a Masters of Health Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology.
​April's Masters research looked at the knowledge and perceptions of advanced cancer patients and their carers regarding psychedelic assisted psychotherapies for end of life distress.
Counties Manukau Chronic Pain Service
April completed her internship working at the CMDHB Chronic Pain Service.
Employed Psychologist in Private Sector Physical Rehabilitation
After working as a fully qualified psychologist in the DHB, April has worked as an employed psychologist for private physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. This work involves supporting clients who have injuries and physical health conditions with a wide range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, medical trauma, body image distress, pain management, chronic symptom management, impacts of neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism Spectrum Disorder) and interpersonal difficulties.
